What’s Our Vector, Victor?

The most common question we hear is ‘What is the Vector connection? Why that name?’, and we’re happy to share the details. But before we do – the award for most unique way of asking this question, has to go to our friend Andrew, who asked ‘What’s your vector, Victor?’ – referring to the scene from Airplane below:

So what is our Vector, exactly?

A vector is a mathematical concept, referring to something that can represent both direction and magnitude. The specific definition being:

vec·tor/ˈvektər/

Noun: A quantity having direction as well as magnitude, esp. as determining the position of one point in space relative to another.

Wind, for example, has both a direction and a magnitude/speed. Vectors are great for looking at a large number if varying inputs and quickly coming to a conclusion about what is happening, and how it all relates together.

Isn’t that a great analogy for modern life? We face numerous and overwhelming inputs that we have to manage. At work you have 12 projects to manage, and 100 people to interact with. You have 3 email addresses, a facebook account, a google plus account, and a twitter account. You have 4 devices that take photos, and 65,000 photos to manage. You have three computers and a smartphone and 100 bookmarks on each. It’s all a bit much.

So, why Vector? It seems to us that we could all use a boost in direction and magnitude, in this often overwhelming and chaotic world we live in. Wouldn’t it be great if managing all of this was all a bit simpler? If you could visualize the forces acting on you, and more easily manage them?

Our aim is to provide tools that enhance your ability to have direction, to make that direction clear to you, to give you increased magnitude in the direction you want to go. To provide tools for you to manage the many vectors that affect you on a daily basis. To help you select the right vector, and then increase the magnitude of that vector to 15.
