As we mentioned in the forums, version 1.3 of Silent Sifter will provide the ability to customize the folder structure that is created for your photos.
In this post we describe how the feature works, and how you can use it.
By default, the sifter separates files by type (Videos / Photos) first, then by year (2012) and then by Month (01 – January). This works well for those that don’t already have a structure in place for organizing their photos, but not as well for those that already have an existing structure they are happy with.
We plan to add 3 to 5 new structure options in this release, and are working to determine which are most valuable. Some of the suggested structures we have heard about are:
- By Type/By Year/By Month/By Day
- By Type/By File Extension/By Year/By Month
- By Year/By Month
- By Year
- By Type/By Year/By Month/By Camera (EXIF)
